Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will declare the result of Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 examination 2016 today. In a press note issued last month, SSC had set the tentative date of CGL result declaration as November 8, 2016 after speculations surfaced of result being out in October first week.
As far as it goes to say for time of declaration, SSC hasn’t specified that. Nonetheless, expect results to be out sometime in the evening. Candidates may keep watch on the official website http://ssc.nic.in/ to check for updates in case any good news comes up. Candidates will also be informed via sms on their mobile numbers registered while filling the form.
What’s changed in CGL 2016
The advertisement for the CGL 2016 was issued on February 2nd, 2016 and the exams were conducted in online mode between August 27 to September 11 after the revised scheme. According to the revised scheme, tier 1 will be treated as qualifying only and tier 2 will also be computer based. The same notice also stated that exam would carry 100 questions, 200 marks and test duration of 75 minutes. In addition to many things happening first time in CGL-2016, the Commission also introduced a tier-III exam (descriptive paper of Hindi/English) which will be held in pen and paper mode. And then there will be Tier-IV which will be Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)/Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). But that’s too far fetched and for those who’ll be clearing tier 1 today, tier 2 is next. The must know details and preparation guide to tier 2 exam will be updated tomorrow.
CGL tier 2 is bound to be conducted from November 30 to December 2nd, 2016. The call letters to tier 1 qualified candidates to appear for tier 2 exam will be issued in about a week from now. Also, tier 3 exam is scheduled to take place on January 15 and tier 4 from 17 January to 17 February, 2017.
The final merit for CGL 2016 will be prepared on the basis of overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off.
Cut-offs?
According to an detailed analysis by SSC Adda, the cut off for tier 1 exam is expected to be somewhere between 112-122 marks. The analysis took around 15 thousand candidates’ responses into account while predicting the cut-off. I’ve discussed that in detail over here.
A re-exam was also held on October 27 for one shift of August 27 exam. The answer keys for all shifts were already released.
According to data received from SSC, a total of 38.04 lakh candidates had applied for the exam while only 14.99 lakh actually sat for the same.
It’s uncertain as of now whether SSC will upload the results in traditional merit list (list of shortlisted candidates) method or will opt individual result mode, more like IBPS where candidates see their result after logging into their account.
This is your live thread for the result, any update on SSC CGL 2016 result will be posted here.
